The South Jakarta Transportation Agency is detouring traffic at the Jalan Pakubuwono VI intersection, to parse traffic jams during rush hours in the morning and evening.

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Bernard Octavianus Pasaribu said traffc diversion was realized in collaboration with the Traffic Sector and the Traffic Control System Management Unit; South Jakarta Metro Resort Police Traffic Unit Chief, South Jakarta Mayor; South Jakarta Satpol PP; as well as local sub-districts and urban villages.

"We also send personnel to give direction to drivers," he expressed, Thursday (1/18).

He explained traffic diveraion was deemed necessary because there had previously been a lot of vehicle crossings which had caused traffic jams on Jalan Pakubuwono VI, precisely in front of SMKN 30.

However, currently, the adjustment of traffic flow by attaching movable concrete barriers (MCB) has made vehicle mobility from Pakubuwono to Senayan smoother, especially in the morning.

"This MCB was attached to prevent drivers going against contra flow which could trigger new traffic jams. It is very dangerous," he explained.

He added traffic regulations around the Jalan Pakubuwono VI intersection would still be subject to further evaluation.

"We will evaluate it, whether it is effective or not based on real conditions in the field," he added

Rizky (23), one of the motorbike drivers admitted traffic jams caused by traffic diversion were due to lack of orderliness of drivers

"To optimize this diversion, We need to take firm action against drivers who violate the traffic rules," he stressed.

As for the information, based on Beritajakarta.id's observations, there is still traffic jam at the location, mostly due to the fact that there are still many motorbike and car drivers who are turning around at the Patung Tumbuh Park from Jalan Hang Tuah Raya back to Jalan Pakubuwono VI. Then, the vehicle goes to Jalan Martimbang or to Senayan.
